Author: Games Master
The concept was simple enough, “lets have something that doesn’t end in a caster kill…” . Fielded across four players, 3 Armies were 1000 Points of defending Druids (Balder and Krueger) , being assaulted by an allied force of 500 Khadorians (Sorshca) and 500 Skorne (Hexerus) . The heavy boys vs the tree huggers. Of course many many turns later it still ended with a double caster kill, but the “capture the duidic circle” gave everyone something more to focus on, and perhaps with an enforced turn limit it would have come into play, but as it was the battle played out as follows :
.
The Druids arrayed them selves to defend two fords across the deep river, one ford heading into thick forest and the other into a wheat field, strangely the Druids were heavily massed on their left facing the Skorne, leaving their right lightly defended with just a a few pigs against the might of Khador.
.
On the Druids left flank it all went great, the Skorne infantry were ripped to pieces by lightening strikes and spells while Khador advanced slowly and surely up the battle field. The Mortar team lobbing shells that landed in random locations to little effect until one strayed over the top and landing bang in the middle of the clustered druids, that was nasty, and gave the Druids pause and they started to spread out.
.
However by this time Khador were across the Ford and making hard work of getting through the wheatfield. Druidics forces rushed up to cover the collapsed right wing and were hit by Sorshca’s feat. This forced more Druids to move to stop Khador and allowed the what was left of the Skorne to retreat (amidst Kruegers ongoing feat). By the time the thaw came, a good portion of the Druids were dead, Baldur made a last ditch attempt to stop Sorshca, failed and was cut down himself. However that’s where it went wrong for Kahdor, with minimal casualities to that point, Sorshca left herself exposed and was hit and killed by a tornado. Shutting down her Jack’s when they were primed to mop up. This left the Skorne in an iffy position with the game balanced in favour of the remaining Druids. However as the sun began to set, luck ran out on Kruegar and he found himself a little too close to an easy target… and was killed by the blast damage having spent all his fury in an over zealous attempt to finish of the remaining Skorne beasts. Victory Skorne and the Khador Mortar team!

The Butcher challenge Vlad to a battle in the wilds.
Steve Khador
- Vlad
- Jugernaut
- Kodia
Chris Khador
- Butcher
- Behemoth
- Beserker
With no range capability Vlad’s boys ran up the table, taking a few scratches from the Behemoths pot shots on the way up. The Jugernaut then took a nasty strike to the arm just before the forces clashed which ripped of its’ arm. Not a great start to the battle. The Kodia charged in ripped up the Beserker and the damaged Jug moved in as support, unfortunately leaving them both as prime targets for the Butcher. Butcher popped his feat charged in and 3 hits later the Jugernaut and Kodiak were smoking wrecks. Behmoth fired at Vlad, scratched him. Last round Vlad needed to cast Boundless charge to get to the Butcher, which proved critical as he ran out of attacks as he tried to take out the Butcher in hand to hand. Last turn for Butcher he deciced to be ultra cruel, casting killing blow and then laying into Vlad. And that was the end of Vlad.
Updated Ladder.
- Wuffy – Cryx
- Chris – Khador (P2 / W 2 / L 0 / D 0 )
- Steve – Khador (P1 / W 0 / L 1 / D 0 )
- Kobby – Trolls (P1 /W 0 / L 1 / D 0 )
- Kris – Mercenaries
Skorne vs Khador – 750 Challenge
Author: Games Master
Lord Tyrant Hexeris challenged Epic Butcher to a 750 ladder match. Packing in 5 warbeasts, 2 units of needle gunners, a squigy squealer and a unit of swords men, againts the rock hard Doom Reavers, Assault Commandos, Ashley, Holt and his GF, and 3 Heavy Jacks.
Going 5 rounds, the highlight of the battle being the turn 4 decimation of the Doom Reavers due to the Hexeris feat combined with the Skorne Sword mens Stand Ready order… the Reavers died to a man, took out Holt, almost had Ashley and left 2 swords men still standing…pretty evil combination!
Butcher had his revenge shortly after that, cutting down three beasts in a Homicidal attack that also saw him take out his Spriggans legs..oops! Okay he didn’t take all three by himself as his buddy the Berserker finished off one of the Skorne beasts with a swift one two axe attack to the back of the head.
Turn 5 Hexeris and the boys had the Butcher cold but failed to press home their advantage, leaving The Fat man in the Red suit on 5 wounds, and really upset, and then he rolled a 1 for fury! What the heck, the creature that the Fat Man can’t kill in two hits has yet to born… and that was the end of Hexeris. Just as well as he only had one Beast left standing! Not that there was much left on the Khador side of the table for that matter.

Kobby Trolls
- Grim Angus
- Earthborn Dire Troll
- Axer
- Winter Troll
Chris Khador
- Butcher
- Behemoth
- Beserker
Terrain : Featured a lot of shallow water that was centered near a forest in the center of the map, other terrain (Ruins and Water) was to the Khador Left of the battle field.
Deployment : Trolls won the deployment roll and opted to allow Khador to set up and move first. The Butcher deployed far left away from the forest and water to avoid giving Angus free fire through the Forest. The Trolls set up opposit Khador.
Turn 1 - Both : Khador advanced up the table, Butcher cast two upkeep spells and stayed behind the Behemoth. Trolls ran up the table to just under half way.
Turn 2 – Khador : Butcher upkeeps spells and assigns focus to the Behemoth. The Behemoth fires at the Earthborn hitting once for minimal damage and missing with the second shot, Beserker advances, Butcher keeps the Behemoth between himself and Angus.
Turn 2 – Trolls: First of three tactical blunders sees Angus forget to leach his fury, and while this does not lead to any Frenzied beasts, it does mean that he has no focus and his beasts all have some fury on them, and his upkeep spells all expire. Second blunder comes shortly afterwards as the Earthborne using the rought terrain speed increase and the Axer Animus charges to attack the Behemoth, three attacks leaves some minor paint damage . The other Trolls have advanced to where the Earthborne was.
Turn 3 – Khador : Butcher upkeeps his spells, keeps all his focus. Activates pops his feat, steps up to within 2″ of the Earthborne and proceeds to decapitate it in two blows. Fury is lost as Angus forgets to reave in a fit of anguish. The Besrker charges the distant Axer to get itself between the Troll forces and the Butcher. The Behemoth fires at Angus and hits! Additional damage for the active feat, it could have been all over but the damage roll was feeble
Turn 3 – Trolls: Angus moves up into the cover of the ruins, fires at The Burtcher causing a minimal damage, then pops his feat to prevent the Khador forces moving away from a central point positioned 2 inches in front of The Butcher (which was to proove to be the third tactical error). Axer and charges the Beserker and damages it badly, Winter Troll charges and finishes it off.
Turn 4 – Khador : Unable to move far, but far enough, The Butcher charges the Axer directly across the teether point, and with his reach manages to reach the Axer, he’s made of tougher stuff than the Earthborne and it takes 4 hits to kill him. Behemoth fires at the winter Troll, taking out it’s Spirit
Turn 4 – Trolls: Angus moves Deeper into the ruins, shoots Butcher with a spell but fails to damage him. The Winter troll charges in, misses, hits with a follow up and the is forced to use Rime. Remaining engaged with The Butcher. Angus is looking a little desperate now as he is down to one Fury 3 beast!
Turn 5 – Khador : The Butcher keeps all his focus, casts his double up strength spell and goes for the all in one kill on the Winter Troll, boosts the damage on the easy hit and turns the beast into a pile of blood and melting frost. The Behemoth doesn’t move (not moved since turn 2) and fires at Angus, missing twice
Turn 5 – Trolls: Angus has three fury and so cuts himself for another 3, he fires a spell at The Butcher , hitting him and knocking him down, shoots his gun hits but the damage barely reduces The Butcher to half hits. Angus sits behind the ruins, wondering if the Butcher can reach him
Turn 6 – Khador : While killing Angus would have been hugely satisfying, the reality was that it was an un-necessary risk. So The Butcher camped his focus. Then activating he stood up and moved away, The Behemoth finally moves and positions itself inbetween Angus and its warcaster. With Armour 24 and 11 wounds left, it’s looking good.
Turn 6 – Trolls : Angus cuts himself for 5, leaving him with 2 wounds. Moving out of the ruins and getting an angle on The Butcher, fires his gun , boosted shot, hits, boosted damage, just 5 wounds…The Butcher lives, Angus casts a final spell, misses and it’s all over.
==================================================================
Post battle thoughts : This was my first victory over Angus, and it was hugely helped by some very uncharacteristic errors by Kobby, most of all his attempt to charge the Behemoth and both failing and ending up in The Butchers kill range. It was also nice to have the Butcher in the thick of combat, with him killing all three enemy beasts in melee.
Khador vs Skorne : 350 – Escalation.
Author: Games Master
This battle was between Khador Chris and Skorne Wuffy. A 350 Escalation Campaign battle.
Khador :
- Karchev
- Devastator
- Devastator
Skorne :
- Lord Tyrant Hexeris
- Titan Cannoneer
- Cyclops Savage
- Cyclops Brute
The terrain, global effect and faction advantages played no real role in this battle as both sides moved to engage in hand to hand right from the get go and terrain was positioned to the sides.
The Titan took a few ranged shots at Krachev prior to melee however it failed to do much damage and that was the extent of ranged combat for the entire battle.
Three rounds of close combat reduced both sides to their casters and the advantage was with Hexeris, who though short on fury for the round 5, cut himself for the short fall and charged in to take on Karchev in hand to hand (brave soul that he is). Slicing into Karchev he cut the man of steel down to within a hairs breadth of death…and then ran out of fury and attacks. Karchev, who was down to only one functioning system, was thankful that he wasn’t 100% Jack, and also thankful that it was his open fist that had been cut off, and not his sword, swung once, cut Hexeris in half and then pondered on what to do with all the unused focus he had left.
Battle Report : Cryx vs. Khador
Author: Games Master
Cryx army:
- Lich Lord Terminus (Warcaster)
- Seether (Helljack)
- Defiler (Bonejack)
- Bane Thralls + 1 trooper (Unit)
- Bloat Thrall (Solo)
- Skarlock Thrall (Solo)
- Machine Wraith (Solo)
- Pistol Wraith (Solo)
- Ogrun Bokur (Solo)
Khador army:
- Karchev the Terrible (Warcaster / Warjack)
- Spriggan (Heavy Warjack)
- 2 Destroyers (Heavy Warjacks)
- Battle Mechaniks (Unit)
Terrain: Kris cancelled out Chris’s terrain deployment of making a fortified hill (and was called a ‘loser’ for his efforts). The only terrain to have any effect on the game was a lake placed in front of Cryx’s deployment zone. Time was short so both players ignored terrain tactics and just charged the middle.
Deployment: Chris won the dice rolls so he deployed and acted first. He had the ultimate jack heavy army and placed them all together in roughly a ‘U’ shape (with the Battle Mechaniks before Karchev). He deployed them in midfield at the edge of his deployment zone.
Kris declared Terminus as Bokur’s client. The two Wraiths deployed to the right of the lake while the rest of the army to the left. The Bane Thralls were out front (as shields).
Turn 1: Khador’s turn. There was no terrain to block Khador’s advance so Chris ran the army forward and maintained the tight ‘U’ shaped formation of the jacks. The Spriggan was on the left with one of the Destroyers on the right. Too far out of Bombard range so no attacks this first turn.
Cryx’s turn. The Wraiths on the right ran to close the distance to the Khadorian army. The rest of the army advanced and Terminus cast Shadow of Death (which gave all undead models in his control area Toughness), just in case some of the army died during the upcoming bombardment. The two jacks advanced a bit farther ahead. The Bane Thralls remained in front of Terminus. Cryx is lacking in long ranged weaponry so they had no attacks this turn.
Turn 2: Khador’s turn. The 4 jack army advanced slightly and the Destroyers shot off their Bombards at the mass of Cryx advanced. The Destroyers missed and nothing was damaged. Chris kept the same formation and it seemed to Kris that he was preparing to use Karchev’s Iron Curtain spell with the Spriggan and the front Destroyer (which who see those two warjacks charged and knockdown everything in between them).
Cryx’s turn. The Wraiths advanced. The Pistol Wraith became corporeal as he took a couple of shots at the front Destroyer. The Destroyer’s armor is too high for the Pistol Wraith to be effective. The Machine Wraith couldn’t attack this round but it was close enough to attempt a Machine Meld next round. Kris knew that the Iron Curtain would be coming next turn so he decided to sacrifice the Seether Helljack by running it up into the middle of the Khadorian jacks (and engaging them all – expect one). Khador would need to take out the Seether before they could advance on the rest of the Cryx army but they would be in charge range of Khador’s army before the Seether died. The rest of the army advanced and Terminus popped his feat. Kris did this to help ensure that the Seether survived Khador’s next turn. On Khador’s next turn, Karchev could not allocate any focus to any of his warjacks. They’d have to take straight up rolls against the Seether. Terminus also cast Shadow of Death again.
Turn 3: Khador’s turn. Chris needed to take out the Seether first. He activated Karchev first and used his auto-knockdown spray attack. It hit and knocked down the Seether and continued out to hit 4 of the Bane Thralls. Unfortunately, they all died, including the leader, except for one that made its Toughness roll. With the Seether on the ground, the Spriggan and Destroyer jack got auto-hits on it but Chris rolled shit and the Seether lived. The unengaged Destroyer used a Bombard attack and killed the Pistol Wraith.
Cryx’s turn. “Charge!” was the focus of this round. Before that, however, the Seether (with one functioning arm) stood up and hit the Spriggan. Minor damage. Terminus himself then charged… err… flew into battle and engaged the front Destroyer jack. First Terminus slashed it with his Doomsayer weapon, then slapped it across the face with Scything Claw. The Destroyer was thrown backwards and crashed into the Destroyer behind it. The Destroyer was seriously messed up and lost its axe and Bombard attacks. Both Destroyers were damaged by the throw and knocked down. Now that Terminus was no longer engaged, he used his Dragonfire spray attack against Karchev and the Battle Mechaniks behind him. Krachev was damaged and two of the Battle Mechaniks (including the leader) burned up. Terminus rules! Bokur charged the Spriggan next but unfortunately Kris only rolled a ‘1′ on his attacks so Bokur got a single POW 15 + 4d6 against the Spriggan. It hurt but the Spriggan didn’t lose systems. The Machine Wraith now moved to knocked down Destroyer in the back and Machine Melded with it. The Machine Wraith would continue to jump in and out of that jack for the rest of the game. Skarlock advanced and was going to Hellfire the Spriggan but he didn’t want to risk hitting Bokur so he didn’t cast any spells. The Bloat Thrall took a shot into the knocked down Destroyers and managed to scratch the one up front. The Defiler approached towards the Battle Mechaniks. One Bane Thralls moved to engage Spriggan and hit him. The knocked down one stood up and moved to join his unit.
Turn 4: Khador’s turn. Chris’s first task was to drive the Machine Wraith out of the Destroyer. Using precious Focus from Karchev, the Machine Wraith ejected the Destroyer and placed itself out of attack range. Chris placed most of Karchev’s Focus on the Spriggan so that it could take out Bokur. Karchev himself spray attacked the Seether and Terminus. Both were knocked down. The Seether was very nearly dead now and the front Destroyer stood up and killed it. The Spriggan attacked Bokur and Chris has never rolled so badly. Every attack missed and Bokur was unharmed (instead of the nearly guaranteed death the Spriggan should have given him). The Battle Mechanik moved up to the Spriggan and tried to repair it but their leader was dead (which meant their Repair ability was very hard to achieve). Chris needed to roll a 4 or less on 2d6 for each Battle Mechanik and they all failed. Lots of 6’s rolled then though. The Destroyer in the back stood up but he couldn’t attack anything because nothing was in range.
Cryx’s turn. The Defiler Bonejack and Skarlock moved behind the Khador army. The Skarlock cast Hellfire on Karchev but only slightly damaged him. The Defiler shot and killed one of the Battle Mechaniks and positioned itself for a channeled Hellfire from Terminus. Kris activated Bokur next and rolled a 3 on the d3 for its attacks. Bokur was within client range so he went nuts on the Spriggan and destroyed it. Bokur kicks ass! 39 point model taking out a heavy warjack four times its worth! It was at this point when time was nearly gone that Kris made a fatal mistake. In an attempt to get the game over with, Terminus charged Karchev. He used all his Focus and delivered hit after hit to Karchev. However, Karchev’s 21 ARM and 36 hit points ensure his survival. While he was about half dead and lost a system or two, Karchev was still alive. Lastly, the Machine Wraith jumped into the back Destroyer again.
Turn 5: Khador’s turn. Despite being half dead and attacking the undamaged Terminus, Karchev utterly destroyed Terminus with only 2 attacks. Karchev is Terrible indeed.
Khador Victorious!
