A brutal night on the town.

12 15th, 2008

The day began with Propit wanting to find a new place to live and finding out that he would need to get the permission of the district Kindred lord of whatever area he wanted to move into. That would require some time, planning, and setting up a meeting with said lord.

.

Additionally, Chen was informed by his regent Sasawat that he would need to keep an eye on his ghoul, Adam, and basically ensure the good behaviour of Josh as ghouls’ activities can reflect upon their regent. Chen phoned up Josh and set up a meeting with him with the simple word “Thirsty?” Adam, nearing the end of the month, had a craving he couldn’t understand and, yes, he was damned thirsty. They met at Electric Blue bar in Patpong and Chen gave him a few pints. Chen lied when Adam asked what the hell was going on and Chen said that it was some experimental Chinese military intravenous drug. Adam then went through all his underground contacts trying to find more. Of course, nobody had a clue what he was talking about.

.
The excitement happened on a Thursday night when Propit and Chen, feeling a bit hungry, went hunting in Patpong. Bruce came along as he’s the barfly and knows how to chat up the bargirls. They got two girls to agree to come with the three of them from a pool bar named Lek’s Bar not to far from the Sala Daeng BTS station. Adam, having found no luck searching Nana for the mysterious Chinese drug, was on his way to Patpong.

.
As Bruce left the bar, he heard a man yell out “Hey Bruce. Over here. I want a word.” Looking over, Bruce saw a massive foreigner standing about 20 feet away. He was at least 7 foot tall, 300 lbs. Bruce was wary but allowed the man, who called himself Garth, to walk forward. Garth said that he was there to collect the 500,000 baht bounty on Bruce’s head. However, he said, he would walk away and left Bruce in peace for the cheap price of 50,000 baht. Chen and Propit were outside at this point. Bruce said something about having a new employer who would double that 500K if Garth would switch targets and help Bruce go after David Ward. Garth agreed and stuck out his hand for Bruce to shake. Bruce took it and….

.
ZAP!! Electricity coursed through Bruce’s body as Garth grabbed on to him. Bruce saw just a flash of change in Garth and saw a different person standing in front of him… one with thick ugly white scars running along his arms and across his neck and metallic plates in the back of his hand. Chen reacted quickly and using a new ability he learned, he yelled “Surrender” to Garth and, much to everyone’s surprise” Garth raised his arms above his head. He didn’t look to happy about it though. Adam was walking down to BTS stairs at this point…
.
Everyone backed away from Garth and were waited for someone to make the first move. Garth, with arms still raised, angrily said “I’m just waiting for this shit to wear off!” Bruce violently punched the defenseless Garth twice, once in the face and once in the spleen. Bruce immediately realized that he was in big trouble when his fists screamed in protest over the rock hard body that Garth had. It felt like punching a brick wall.
.
All hell broke loose then. Chen drew and then threw a ninja star at Garth which went wide and Propit plunged his knife into Garth’s stomach. It penetrated the thick skin but just barely. Garth backhanded Bruce and sent him flying through the air. Bruce crashed into the corner of Lek’s bar and fell prone on the ground. Chen then circled around Garth, pulled his gun and shot him. Again, the bullet barely penetrated. Propit continued to stab Garth with limited success. Of course, after bullets when flying, masses of people were diving for cover and running away.
.
Garth, ignored Propit and his knife, pointed his hand at prone Bruce and electricity arced of his hand and zapped Bruce on the ground. Things were not going well. After a few more backhands and flying bodies, Bruce and Propit were beaten badly. Chen, turned things around when he made a perfect shot and hit Garth in the back of the head. It was a grevious wound and the big man was hurting. With Garth on his last legs, none of them had enough ummph in them to bring him down. Propit was the first to hit the ground when Garth knocked him torpid and then Bruce fell next… just barely alive when he fell unconcious. Garth picked up unconcious Bruce and walked away. Chen took some parting shots but couldn’t hurt him. Chen was, by now, starving and fell into a hunger frenzy and took apart some poor somtam lady on the side of the street. By the time he was finished, Garth and Bruce were gone, so was Adam and Propit’s body.
.
Adam had taken Propit’s body to a motel room where he knew the owner. Doing some experiments with Propit’s body and feeding him his blood, Adam quickly realized that he could get his fix here. Adam got a junkie whore he knew to come to the motel room, drugged her up, bleed her into Propit and then fed off Propit. Adam did this for two whole weeks, keeping the whore alive and keeping himself stoned on vamp juice. That was, until Propit woke up after two weeks and devoured the poor girl. Propit still hungry was about to jump Adam but Adam fast talked him down. Propit needed more food so Adam quickly called McDonald’s delivery and ordered a Big Mac meal. The delivery man was the meal, not the Big Mac.
.
In the meantime, Bruce had woken up strapped down to a medical bed, in a bare room, attached to an IV. He saw no one except a nurse who would only come into his room a couple of times a day to change the IV. She said nothing to him. Bruce saw no one else. He attempted to break free from the straps but it was a near impossible task. On the 4th or 5th day, Bruce dislocated his shoulder in the attempt. When the nurse saw this, she got handcuffs and handcuffed his feet to the bed. By the 14th day, Bruce was still there.
.
Chen attempted to phone Bruce but someone else (named Thomas) answered the phone. Chen was unsuccessful in trying to broker a deal in getting Bruce released. Seems that David Ward won’t be budged on the subject.
.
So, at the end of the session, this was the situation. Bruce is locked up somewhere, still half dead, no idea where he is or what’s to become of him.
.
Adam totally blood bonded himself to Propit and Propit had just woken up from a two-week torpor.
.
Chen, no being able to contact Bruce or Propit, has no idea what’s going on.

Thagrosh Messiah of Everblight

Well in case you missed the global news Bangkok has been without an airport for the past week, and as well as stranding several hundred thousand passengers in and outside of Thailand, it has also disrupted small businesses, travel firms, tourist dependant firms, firms tied to airport based deliveries and internation post…which has led to a few inbound minis to become stranded “somewhere”, no idea when they’ll make it here now, if ever!

.

In the mean time I guess I’ll just dream of Epic Thagrosh the Messiah of Everblight! Looks like Thagrosh can fly now…or at least glide!

.

Be great to see what kind of new powers he comes equppied with!

Newpaper article from the Bangkok Post:

Lee Sun Jong, the infamous Korean arsonist who has been blamed for six arsons over the past three weeks in Bangkok, was killed at Soi 15 Dog Care dog kennel yesterday evening at approximately 7:55 pm.

Eyewitnesses report that Mr. Lee was talking with a Western woman just outside the dog kennel on Sukhumvit Soi 15 when a shot was suddenly fired which grazed Mr. Lee’s head. The woman started screaming hysterically as Mr. Lee, bleeding from a head wound, jumped into the Soi 15 Dog Care shop.

Almost immediately after, a short young Thai man, came running from around the corner of the back alleyway to the shop, with a machete in hand. He entered the shop after Mr. Lee. Ms. Rathaboon, owner of Soi 15 Dog Care, reports that she heard the shot from outside and saw Mr. Lee and then the machete-wielding Thai man, enter her shop. She dropped to the ground and didn’t see what happened next.

Mr. Lee was killed in the next minute when the unknown Thai man hacked into Mr. Lee’s head with the machete. The killer left the machete where it was and ran out the back of the shop. Ms. Rathaboon phoned the police soon thereafter. She was so frightened of the experience that she cannot recall accurately the appearance of the killer nor could she give a description for a police composite.

Captain Pongsawat (Khun Ping) of the Royal Thai Police expressed concern over the apparent vigilantism in Bangkok. He said that this was murder was very well planned and carried out. Khun Ping reports that vigilantes cannot be tolerated in Bangkok, even when they do a “fine public service”.

Lee Sun Jong’s body was taken to a nearby hospital and an autopsy declared that he died from two machete wounds as well as blood loss from a shot to the head. The Korean Embassy has claimed his body and Mr. Lee’s remains will be returned to South Korea where he will be put to rest at the Church of Christian Brothers, of which Mr. Lee was a member.

Ropped into carrying out a covert mission for the military the party carried out 2, 3 system jumps to arrive at the rendezous in their unarmed civilian target.  Docked at the the research station was some kind of small “alien” craft about the size of a Military Raptor.  No visible weaponry and the engine energy system was not something anyone recognized.

.

Either way their mission was to facilitate a meeting, not get fussed about alien space craft. They docked and the Lt Douglas went on board with order to the party to stay on their ship until he returned. Time passed, and then the power on the Research station went off. Life support, Gravity and lights. A small debate was had and then the army boys volunteered to head on board while the Navy boys and Doc remained safe on their own craft.

.
A slow exploration of the small research station eventually turned up the sound of Lt Douglas “crying”. Following the sniffles, he was found huddled in a corner clutching his Picon Pistol and rocking back and forwards in a state that could best be described as “in shock”. He also had a fine spray of blood over his right shoulder. While one of the army boys decided to see if he could be snapped out of it the other moved to check out the “meeting room”, as he got close to opening the door, Lt Douglas suddenly snapped out of his shock and demanded the team leave the station immedlately and return to the ship. Being ex-army boys the intrepid soldiers shrugged and ignored him. Lt Douglas moved to snap a shot off , but was too slow, taking a bullet in the right arm, his own shot missing horribly and then he was hit in the right arm.  Armless and gun less he still tried to make a run for it until brought low be a punch to the face.  With the navy boy wrapped up and bleeding out, they decided to check out the meeting room.

.

They were met by a strange site, a desk, two chairs, a brief case, a lot of blood and a dead body with its’ face blown off…wearing the same uniform as Lt Douglas and of a very similar (if not the same) build.  The brief case was quickly popped open to reveal a strange looking device of tubes and liquids, with a green button.  Where more logical minds might have thought “where is the red button” the army boys just pressed the green button and watched as the liquids mixed to form one new green form in a middle container… cool they thought, time to call the Navy boys in .

.

Doc and one of the ex-navy boys headed over to the station and in very short order declared that “It’s a bomb of some kind, it’s a chemical bomb, or maybe a bio agent, and there’s enough in it to wipe out a small planet…” At this point there was still an arguement about taking it along, but before guns could be drawn news of the Alien ship powering up had the team scurrying back to their own ship, along with Lt Douglas and leaving the bomb behind.

.

Wasting no time they team dissengaged from the research ship and made a jump, just as the alien ship launched some kind of missle.

.

Doc quickly went to work on Lt Douglas, medically as well as psychologically, as well as checking out the dead body. He soon concluded that the body was also Lt Douglas… a worrying fact that… and that the Lt Douglas that was dead, was not the Douglas that they came with. (Clever check of stomache contents) .  The live Lt Douglas was left restrained in the sick bay as well as drugged up once questioning was finished. He seemed innocent enough, cracking under pressure of questions to admit that he had shot the other Douglas after freaking out when he saw him on the research station waiting for him. Though he had no recollection of taking his gun with him on to the station, “I never take my gun to these meetings!” and had no idea why he’d taken it this time or even when he’d taken it.

.

A week in jump space left the team no wiser as to what they had seen. Though when they dropped out of Jump space it seemed like it might be a good idea to tell someone, but not everyone agreed….

New Fighting Style: Muay Thai (1 – 5 dots)

Prerequisites: Strength 2, Stamina 2, Athletics 2 and Brawl 2

Effect: Your character is training in the ritualistic Thai fighting style called Muay Thai. He is able to punch, kick and knee opponents quickly and effectively. He would have learned Muay Thai as a form of exercise or is a professional.

Dots purchased in this merit allow access to special combat maneuvers. Each maneuver is a prerequisite for the next. So, your character can’t have “Piw Kaeng” until he has “Dtee Kao”.

Dtee Kao (Knee to the Gut) (1 dot): You use a strong knee attack to your opponent’s stomach which leaves him gasping for air. If successes inflicted in a single Brawl attack equal or exceed the opponent’s size, the victim loses his next action.

Piw Kaeng (Toughened Skin) (2 dots): Your character has hardened his body to physical blows, allowing him to withstand repeated hits with minimal effect. He has an effective armor rating of 1 against bashing attacks only.

Bok Bong Cha (Defensive Brawling) (3 dots): Your character has mastered the ability of fighting defensively. When using this maneuver, he gains a +2 to his Defense for the turn but any attack he makes suffers a -2 penalty. He can move no more than his Speed while performing Defensive Brawling.

Chok Song (Two Punches) (4 dots): Your character’s training allows you to devastate your opponent with a flurry of blows. He can make two Brawl attacks against the same target in a single action. The second attack suffers a -1 penalty. Drawback: Your character cannot use his Defense against any attack in the same turn in which he intends to use this maneuver. If he uses his Defense against an attack that occurred earlier in the Initiative roster, then he cannot use Chok Song this turn.

Gam Ban Rai Gaat (Lethal Fist) (5 dots): Your character’s accuracy and power are such that his fists and knees are lethal weapons, able to injure or kill opponents. A Gam Ban Rai Gaat attack does Lethal damage, instead of Bashing damage. Drawback: Spend one Willpower per attack. Note that this Willpower expenditure does NOT give the attacker 3 extra dice on the attack

Background Information about World of Darkness: Bangkok

Our chronicle will begin in present-day World of Darkness: Bangkok. The city is similar in many regards as regular Bangkok but more sinister and foreboding in others. The military coup of September 2006 that saw the expulsion of the Thai prime minister was violent and bloody as the coup was strongly protested against by the Thai people. The military cracked down hard and suppressed the protests in a hail of bullets. Hundreds died and international relations with Thailand subsequently fell through. Thailand quickly reverted back to a third-world country without international trade and support. Poverty is rampant and many resort to begging or crime to make ends meet. The military remains in control and road blocks with armed soldiers are a common site in Bangkok. More and more women in Thailand come to Bangkok and engage in the flesh trade as it is the one industry that hasn’t been damaged. Indeed, the prostitution trade is flourishing more than ever and it is a starting point of our story.

Session 1: A Bad Night for Bruce

Our chronicle begins Sunday evening, April 6th, 2008. The group (minus Chen as he was entertaining some foreign dignitaries) went to Sukhumvit Soi 4 (better known as Soi Nana) for a night out. Nothing new for Bruce as he is out EVERY night. Their evening began in Big Dogs (a small beer bar just outside the entrance to Nana Plaza). Bruce immediately ordered the bar to switch off the faggity football from the TV and put on a more manly sport (like rugby or Aussie rules football). Knowing Bruce, the bar complied. The group settled down on seats overlooking the soi and watched the wave of humanity coming and going as they drank Chang beer.

All but Bruce drank socially and they spent several hours at Big Dogs. After feasting upon somtam and chicken kebabs, the group was considering moving on. However, at that moment, a sick-looking farang man stumbled up towards them from the road. “Guys! You gotta help me”, he said as he approached. He grabbed onto Bruce’s arm saying “I’m really sick. I need to get to a hospital.” Bruce took homophobic offense at being touched by a man and told him to remove his hands from Bruce’s arms. The sick farang did so. Sarah then asked what was wrong with him.

The man, whose name was John Webster, said that he was an American tourist and had only been in Thailand for a few days. He said that he was with a Thai woman the night before and he couldn’t remember what happened with her. He woke up the next evening, hungry but unable to keep down any food. He was pale and felt horrible. He implored the group to take him to a hospital. He didn’t speak any Thai and needed help. Bruce offered to take John to a hospital but for a fee of 2000 baht. John, not caring about money in his current state, immediately agreed.

The group hailed a taxi. Al and Bruce got in the back with John while Sarah got in the front and Propit followed on his motorbike. Bruce told the taxi driver to take the long way to the hospital. Sarah tried to get the driver to go the correct way but it was too late. By then, the taxi was going up the wrong side of Sukhumvit. In the back of the taxi, John was moaning and complaining about how hungry he felt. It looked like he would be sick at any moment. Al and Bruce rolled down the back window and positioned John so that his head was out of it, in case he was to vomit. Bruce took advantage of John’s condition and picked his back pocket. John, nor Al nor Sarah, saw Bruce lift a passport. Sarah did happen to glimpse something strange about John when she turned around but her rational mind told her it was playing tricks on her.

Traffic was slow going up Sukhumvit so Sarah told the taxi driver to stop. It would be quicker to walk to the hospital from where they were. They all got out of the taxi. Bruce was supporting John and purposefully tripped him at the curb and the both of them crashed down on the sidewalk. Bruce quickly picked another pocket and came away with John’s wallet. However, Bruce got a surprise of his own when he heard a snarl from John and felt John’s suddenly strong arms grab Bruce around the neck and pulled his throat forward. Pain, mingled with strange pleasure, erupted through Bruce as John bit into his throat.

Despite the danger of having a crazed maniac biting into his neck, Bruce nearly lost himself to the unusual pleasant feelings it caused. However, his homophobia runs strong and he freaked out in angry. Bruce started punching John in the head but the angle made it difficult to cause any damage. Al and Sarah tried to pull Bruce off John but, in his rage, Bruce fought them off too. Propit had arrived by now and tried to come to Bruce’s rescue by swinging his motorcycle helmet at John but succeeded only in cracked the helmet on the sideway. John continued to hold onto Bruce’s neck and drank the blood that came from the hole in his neck. Blood ran down Bruce’s neck and front.

Sarah and Propit now noticed that a black car had pulled up to the curb and two very finely dressed Thai man got out of the car. They looked around and took in the scene. Al had finally managed to pull Bruce off of John. Both Bruce and John then stood up off the ground. Bruce had murder in his eyes as he saw John (now healthy looking) licking blood off his face. John looked around and saw the two Thai guys behind him. As quick as a cat, John ran in the opposite direction without a second thought. One of the Thai men, and the car, chased after John while the other man walked up to Bruce, looked him in the eyes, and said, in English, “Stay”. He then walked away and followed the fleeing John.

Bruce said “I’m not your fucking dog” but he immediately discovered that his legs refused to obey his instructions to move. It didn’t last long but, for that duration of time, Bruce simply couldn’t move. He just stood on the sidewalk and told Propit to get him a beer. Propit looked around but soon enough Bruce could move again. It was then suggested to Bruce that he go to the hospital as he has lost a lot of blood but he refused. He wanted to return to Nana and play up his assault to the bargirls in the hopes of getting their artificial sympathy.

Al and Sarah caught a taxi back to Nana while Propit and Bruce went on Propit’s motorbike. Bruce took the opportunity alone with Propit to show Propit John’s wallet and passport and Bruce gave some of the cash inside to Propit. Bruce ended up with a decent amount of cash, a Visa credit card and a passport.

Back at Nana Plaza, the group met up a VooDoo Bar on the first floor. Bruce walked in with blood all over him and played the part of a victim. He told the bargirls of his heroic fight against the villains who assaulted him. Of course, the girls all swooned over their hero, Bruce. One of the dancing girls, however, seemed to feel sick over the sight of all the blood on Bruce. She left the stage and never returned.

The group settled down to beers and enjoyed the show of half-naked dancers doing the Bangkok Shuffle. Sarah broke out her notepad and went around to some girls and got more info for her thesis. Propit was summarily ignored by all the girls in the place while Al attracted, but rejected, several. He found that scantily clad bargirls’ groping his privates wasn’t something that he enjoyed. Bruce soaked in all the attention he received and eventually caught the interest of a new girl whom he had never seen before.

Asking the mamasan, he discovered that her name was Nit, she was 23, from Buri Ram and had just started work at VooDoo yesterday. After her set, Nit came over, introduced herself and sat with the entire group but settled with Bruce when the rest seemed to have no interest in her. The mamasan asked if Bruce was interested in her. Bruce was fifty-fifty about her so the mamasan basically asked Bruce to take her in support of the bar. The mamasan was apparently worried that she may lose Nit as an employee if Nit didn’t get any customers. Bruce, after bargaining the mamasan down to a free barfine, agreed.

After midnight now, the group (with Nit in tow) left Nana and went to a disco and then to a Laos disco. Al and Sarah left for home sometime in between discos. Propit hung in there and was rewarded. After being prompted by Bruce several times to dance with one of the girls at the Laos disco, Propit discovered (much to his astonishment) that she seemed to genuinely like him. After some conversation, some drinks and more dancing, she was still there! Propit took the girl around 5:00 in the morning and lost his virginity.

Bruce and Nit stayed around until closing time, then went for breakfast. Sometime around 7:00 or 8:00 in the morning, Nit finally asked Bruce if they were going to go to bed or not. Bruce said “Of course” and away they went. Nit played with her phone for a bit before arriving at Bruce’s apartment. Al was up early to take his dog for a run (Al and Bruce live in the same building) but missed Bruce and Nit by about 10 minutes.

Finally back home after a long night of drinking, dancing and blood loss, Bruce was up for some loving. However, it would turn out to be a very bad night for Bruce. In his bedroom, Nit was rummaging in her purse when she called out to Bruce. “Bruce, honey?”, she said. Bruce replied “Yeah?” Nit walked up to him, smiled and looked him in the eyes and said “Freeze”. Bruce’s blood immediately ran cold in his body and his muscles tensed up to uselessness. He couldn’t move. “Fuck! Not again” must have been going through his mind. Nit removed her hand from her purse and she held a syringe in it. She took out a small bottle and filled up the syringe with the colorless liquid from inside the bottle. She then jabbed it in Bruce’s neck and injected the drug directly into his veins. Bruce, almost immediately, collapsed into unconsciousness.

Bruce had dreams of the Arctic and of him swimming around the ocean with polar bears. He awoke, some hours later, freezing cold in his own bathtub. He was still drugged and drowsy but felt an intense pain in his back. His right hand was strapped down to the tub’s railing. He tried to focus and the first thing he noticed was that the bathtub was half-full with ice cubes and the water in the tub was pinkish red. He saw a note next to the bathtub. It read “Call 191. I have taken your kidney.”

Bruce unstrapped himself and dragged his aching body to his bedroom where he flipped through the Yellow Pages and phoned every hospital he could find. “Send an ambulance. Someone has taken my kidney” he said over the phone. Not too much later, the ambulance crew knocked on his door. They found a semi-conscious and fully naked Bruce laying face down on his bed pointing to a jagged wound down his lower right back. “My kidney…..”
