VTES Round up

Our first VTES tournament lasted the whole day and had nine players battling through out the day to make the final round. After three rounds of battle the final round saw Bobby, Jom, Josh, Cleveland and Myself (Chris) qualify. As the best qualifier Josh had prime choice of positioning and sat far away from the only Intercept deck left in play.  The first few rounds were slow and careful, but things soon heated up and Bobby was the first to call, nibbled away by rats and then finished off by a swarm attack from Cleveland. This briefly left  Cleveland looking exposed but Josh’s first political action gave most of the players lots of blood and bolsted him up. Meanwhile Jom was chipping away at me, while my deck refused to give me the cards I needed to get rolling until a little too late. Then just when I was feeling safe Jom rushed in at me while I had 6 blood left and was feeling pretty safe…and nailed me for the lot.  Then Josh went to town with the votes, gradually crippling Jom and Cleveland. A few rounds later Josh found himself on the receiving end of a flurry of votes and was ousted. Leaving Cleveland to face Josh in what appeared to be an uneven battle. For a while though it looked like Cleveland might actually win through as Josh was obviously short of powerful referendum cards…but that didn’t last long and finally the vote was called that sent Cleveland out and crowned Josh the champion of our first VTES tournament.

Congrats to Josh and thanks to everyone who joined in. Over the next couple of weeks we’ll be holding some smaller booster draft tournaments, and getting ready for our first constructed deck tournament in August!
